Remember Dig?

Dig released one of my favorite CDs of the ’90s, a self-titled 12-track disc packed with alternative rock hooks and a mild shoegazer guitar influence. Two more full lengths and an EP or two followed before Dig did what a lot of other bands of that era did and disappeared into oblivion.

Singer Scott Hackwith has been busy as a producer and scoring motion pictures since Dig’s breakup and is currently working with an amazing, instrumental band called For a Minor Reflection (he gets a lot of face time in the band’s studio diary video).

I interviewed Scott in 2004 (read it after the jump) and he said Dig was working on new material. A mere 5 or so years later, it looks like Dig is ready to make a comeback

Free music from Placebo/Silversun Pickups

Silversun Pickups, Expatriate, The Horrors, and United are joining Placebo on a tour of the UK and Europe starting this week (see Placebo’s tour page for who is opening where). As a way to get fans excited about the tour, Placebo is offering a free download bundle – including a PDF booklet – featuring live tracks by all the bands that will be taking part in this tour.

Def Leppard cancels North America tour

Damn. I was working on getting an interview with the band to preview their November show in Columbus. From DefLeppard.com:

Due to unforeseen personal matters, the third leg of Def Leppard’s North American Tour, set to begin on October 22nd, has been cancelled. “We know how truly blessed we are to have such committed fans,” said the band in a statement. “That’s why we’ve agonized over this decision. Even if just a single concert, we don’t take cancelling shows lightly, but unfortunately life’s commitments need to be the priority.”

Poor ticket sales? Something going on within the band?
