Rare Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon) material surfaces

Shannon Hoon’s mother, Nel, wrote the following:

About five years ago someone from California sent me about 20 CDs with Blind Melon music. I had not listened to any of those until recently. When I ran across this CD I felt that I had found a treasure to be shared with all the people who love Shannon. After thinking about it for days, I have concluded that Shannon would have wanted me to give this as a Christmas present to you and you and you and you and you … so Merry Christmas!

What a great early Christmas gift. Here’s the tracklisting:

01 – Flea Market Pete
02 – Cavities
03 – Walk
04 – St. Andrew’s Fall
05 – All That I Need
06 – Everyday
07 – Letter’s From a Porcupine
08 – Weeping Like the Willow

  1. What a lovely gift. This has made my 2009! Haven’t listened to any Blind Melon / Hoon in a while and this reminds me of the indellible mark this mans music made on me. Sorely missed!

  2. Thank you Richard Shannon for giving me something to hold onto forever. As long as i have your music i will be able to deal with my life as it is and try my best to empower others with your work.
Not forgetting all the other band members without you there is no Blind Melon. Thank you all!

  3. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you very much.

I absolutly love Weeping like the Willow. I can’t tell you how much I wish that one would have materialized into a full song on one of their CD’s.

  4. thank ya so much. just ran across this site on accident. So glad I found it. I thought I’d heard all of the rare blind melon stuff out there by now. What a great suprise!

  5. Shannon Hoon was in my opinion the most talented special singer songwriter of my time. It still brings such sadness to have lost someone so special. Sometimes those with the most light have the biggest demons. Regardless of how Shannon’s life ended, it takes nothing away from the beautiful memory he left behind. So Shannon, where ever u are, u are missed and your music lives on. Gone too soon but never to be forgotten. Much love. RIP
