And whatever happened to the “popular” cheerleader from the video? Turns out Sarah Sebestyen has a singing career of her own these days, though her country-style is far removed from the indie rock sounds of Nada Surf.

Tour dates: Scott H. Biram

I don’t know many truck drivers. Hell, I don’t know ANY truck drivers but if all the stereotypes are to be believed, Scott H. Biram may be the prototypical truck-driving country-rock hillbilly with a need for speed … speed metal, that is. His 2006 release, Graveyard Shift, isn’t really an alt.country-metal album the way, say, some of the stuff that Hank III puts out is, but you can tell that Biram’s the type of dude whose got an armful of tattoos that he shouldn’t be showing in church or to his momma. As much as metal influenced Biram (I’m guessing the guy’s got a shoebox full of Motorhead cassettes), there’s also a dirty blues influence in his music. Now, I’m a trusting fella and am inclined to believe that his love of country and the blues is genuine though Pitchfork called Biram’s 2005 release, The Dirty Old One Man Band, “mock blues” to which Biram had a few words to say.

You’ll have the opportunity to decide for yourself whether it’s real or mocking as Biram hits the road this month for a string of tour dates.

Blind Melon – new tour dates

Blind Melon played the whole reunion thing smartly. They did two weeks worth of dates at smaller clubs in early October to test the waters, see if people still cared, especially given that the band has a new singer. With a 12-year gag between live shows, Blind Melon still managed to sell out each of the first 10 or so dates and played both old and new material with a number of great surprises (and surprise guests) thrown in.

Keith, a regular poster on the Blind Melon message board, put together a really cool “unofficial” tour video mixing elements of his travels to see the band, old songs, new songs, live concert footage and the debut appearance of Shannon Hoon’s 12-year-old daughter Nico as she joined the band to perform the song “Change”.

There are a bunch of great live videos from the tour on YouTube so if you’re interested, do some searching and you’ll be rewarded.

Nine new tour dates have been announced and it’s pretty safe to assume that given the nature of the first run of dates, these most likely will sell out so if you are thinking about checking them out and don’t already have tickets, you might want to grab some now.
