New Peter Gabriel CD – Scratch My Back

This sounds interesting.

From PeterGabriel.com

Peter describes this as a very personal record with the twelve songs performed only with orchestral instruments and voice. To help craft the recording Peter enlisted John Metcalfe as arranger, the expertise of producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’, Lou Reed’s ‘Berlin’) and the engineer, mixer and producer Tchad Blake (Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crow, Tom Waits).

The album will feature Peter’s recordings of Heroes (David Bowie), The Boy in the Bubble (Paul Simon), Mirrorball (Elbow), Flume (Bon Iver), Listening Wind (Talking Heads), The Power of the Heart (Lou Reed), My Body is a Cage (Arcade Fire), The Book of Love (The Magnetic Fields), I Think it’s Going to Rain Today (Randy Newman), Après Moi (Regina Spektor), Philadelphia (Neil Young) and Street Spirit (Fade Out) (Radiohead).

Scratch My Back will be available on Feb. 15.

Scion Rock Fest 2010: Columbus

Rumors are starting to heat up about the Scion Rock Fest 2010. The date is set – Saturday, March 13 – and at least one venue (of a rumored 4) has the date on their schedule though no band info listed. Because Scion hasn’t released any information yet, these acts should only be considered rumors until an official announcement is made:  Shrinebuilder, Pelican, YOB, Cannibal Corpse and Saviours.

As info becomes available, I’ll post it here.

Tivo alert: The Dollyrots on The Price is Right (Jan.15)

The Dollyrots make their game show debut on The Price is Right on Friday, January 15. Although what their appearance entails remains a mystery, High Wire Daze is reporting that The Dollyrots will perform two songs – their new single, “California Beach Boy”, as well as “Because I’m Awesome” from my second favorite CD of 2007, Because I’m Awesome.

The band is working on their third album (with some co-writing help from ex-Letters to Cleo singer Kay Hanley) which they hope to release this summer. In the meantime, you can stream – and buy – 2 brand new tracks (“California Beach Boy”, “Dumb”).
