Is Gene Simmons looking to turn KISS into a franchise? Perhaps. At the very least you’ve got to believe he’s thinking about creating a reality TV show looking for the new members of KISS who will replace the current band members, himself and Paul Stanley included. Paul’s not exactly on board at this stage in the game.

Bring the noise – Melvins to tour

I saw the Melvins once. They were sandwiched between two bands I really wanted to see, Skeleton Key and Tomahawk. I couldn’t find a corner far enough away from the stage to escape the noise they were creating. That was then, this is now. I still have never given a Melvins record a spin though based on some stuff that I’ve recently admitted to liking, friends tell me I’d dig the Melvins. Anybody have any suggestions of a good record to start with?
Here are some tour dates they’ve got lined up to support Nude with Boots due out early next month.

A not-so-Taysty “Pork and Beans” cover
I found a bit of humor in Chocolate Rain, the breakthrough YouTube hit by Tay Zonday. And I don’t think Weezer’s video for “Pork and Beans” would have been complete without an appearance by Urkel’s deep-voiced cousin but I couldn’t even make it through this parody commercial for Weezer’s new album (in stores ToTay).
LOST (alternate endings)

I’m fairly certain the writers/producers knew 100% who was going to be in the coffin but they probably shot these scenes just to have some extra footage that they could put out there that would get people speculating. I don’t think it was a last minute decision of “Hmm, which one should we go with?”
New Weezer CD available for the price of a McDonald’s Value Meal
They haven’t gone the way of Radiohead or Nine Inch Nails and decided just to give away their new album (could have something to do with the fact that they are still signed to a major label). For that matter, the band itself probably isn’t even responsible for the pricing, but if you are on fence about picking up the new Weezer CD this Tuesday, Circuit City is offering it on sale for the ridiculously low price of $5.99. Most of the Sunday ads for places like Best Buy and Target show the first week of release price at $9.99, which is still a good deal. But $5.99? That should propel first week sales quite nicely.
