Me? I’m holding out for a Quicksand reunion which I’m pretty sure will never happen but I’ll take a Rival Schools reunion if it’s the best that I can get at this point in time. Walter Schreifels put elements of the band back together and just finished up a month’s worth of dates overseas. I think I read somewhere that Schreifels said a U.S. tour would happen this year and a new record was being worked on.
Here’s a clip of the band performing “Used for Glue” last week. And a cover of The Smiths “How Soon is Now” (which Schreifels used to cover with Quicksand back in the day).
Read some reviews of the reunion shows:
Got an advance copy of the new Darker My Love CD, 2, in the mail last week and the first thought I had was “Is this the new Dandy Warhols album?” Of course, I don’t know the Dandies THAT well so maybe this sounds nothing like them but when I checked my e-mail in-box I see a note saying Darker My Love is going to be touring with the Dandies this summer so I guess the comparison isn’t too far off. 2 is a stunning listen, even the first time through, full of fuzzy and shimmering guitars, the kind of which made people fall in love with the previously mentioned Dandy Warhols as well as artists like Spiritualized. I haven’t given it enough listens to hammer out a review right now, but one will be coming shortly.
In the meantime, here are a few goodies for you to nibble on.

The only summer tour I was really looking forward to – Cinderella/Warrant/Lynch Mob/Lynam – appears to be canceled. The rumblings first came up on the Metal Sludge message board and then came a news entry on Blabbermouth supposedly from the Cinderella camp.
“It’s with unbelievably deep regret that I must announce that CINDERELLA‘s Tom Keifer‘s left vocal cord has hemorrhaged, thereby making it impossible for him to sing in the immediate future.
“Tom felt his throat give way last night (June 11) finishing the set in pre-production rehearsals, went to his vocal doctor (Dr. Stephen Mitchell) in Nashville this morning, and was told the grim news. In the short term, Tom‘s doctor told him it would be two to three weeks before the swelling and damage would recede to a point to where an assessment can be made as to whether surgery will be required.
“Consequently, and again, most regretfully, we have no choice but to postpone the upcoming CINDERELLA tour until such time as Tom is ready tour again.”
Rumors are that the reunited Warrant are scrambling to rebook dates for the summer. More as the story develops …
